WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. ? Kameron Smith accounted for three touchdowns and Maurice Lewis ran for two scores as Winston-Salem State beat West Texas A&M 41-18 Saturday in the Division II national semifinals.
Smith threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns and added a 23-yard TD run in the fourth quarter for the Rams (14-0), who led 20-7 at halftime and advanced to the national championship game for the first time.
Lewis had scoring runs of 11 and nine yards and finished with 118 rushing yards. The Rams also got a 32-yard touchdown run from Bryce Sherman.
Dustin Vaughan threw for 169 yards and a touchdown, Khiry Robinson ran for 137 yards and a score and Sergio Castillo hit a 29-yard field goal for the Buffs (12-3), who won three consecutive road games to advance to the semifinals.
Winston-Salem State will face Valdosta State in the Division II championship game next Saturday in Florence, Ala.
